For your info, it's useful to be aware that most of the cPanel-based Web Hosting offerings on the present web hosting market are supplied by a quite inconsiderable business segment (when it comes to yearly cash flow) known as hosting reseller. Reseller website hosting is a kind of a small-sized business segment, which supplies a vast quantity of different web hosting trademarks, yet furnishing strictly the same thing: mostly cPanel web hosting services. This is bad news for everybody. Why? Owing to the fact that at least 98% of the website hosting offers on the whole web hosting market supply strictly the same service: cPanel. There's no variety at all. Even the cPanel-based Web Hosting prices are similar. Very much alike. Leaving for those who require a top web hosting service virtually no other website hosting platform/website hosting Control Panel choice. So, there is just a single fact: out of more than 200k website hosting trademarks around the world, the non-cPanel based ones are less than two percent! Less than 2%, remark that one...

200,000 "Web Hosting vendors", all cPanel-based, yet diversely labeled

The Web Hosting "diversity" and the web hosting "offers" Google reveals to us come down to merely one and the same solution: cPanel. Under 100's of thousands of different website hosting trademarked names. Assume you are merely a normal fellow who's not very well aware of (as the majority of us) with the site creation processes and the hosting platforms, which actually power the individual domain names and sites. Are you prepared to make your hosting decision? Is there any website hosting option you can choose? Of course there is, nowadays there are more than 200k website hosting suppliers out there. Officially. Then where is the difficulty? Here's where: more than ninety eight percent of these more than two hundred thousand different web hosting brand names around the world will give you exactly the same cPanel Control Panel and platform, named differently, with exactly the same price tags! WOW! That's how large the diversity on today's web hosting marketplace is... Full stop.

The Web Hosting LOTTERY we are all part of

Simple math shows that to come across a non-cPanel based web hosting corporation is a big strike of luck. There is a less than 1 in 50 chance that an event like that will take place! Less than one in 50...

The upsides and downsides of the cPanel-based Web Hosting solution

Let's not be relentless with cPanel. At least, in the years 2001-2004 cPanel was fashionable and presumably satisfied all website hosting industry prerequisites. To put it briefly, cPanel can do the job for you if you have only one domain to host. But, if you have more domains...

Weak Point Number 1: A moronic domain folder setup

If you have 2 or more domain names, however, be ultra cautious not to erase fully the add-on ones (that's how cPanel will refer to each new hosted domain, which is not the default one: an add-on domain). The files of the add-on domains are very simple to erase on the server, since they all are set up into the root folder of the default domain name, which is the quite popular public_html folder. Each add-on domain name is a folder placed inside the folder of the default domain name. Like a sub-folder. Next time try not to delete the files of the add-on domain names, please. See for yourself how marvelous cPanel's domain folder configuration is:

public_html (here my-default-domain.com is located)
public_html/my-family (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-domain.com (an add-on domain)
public_html/my-second-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-second-wife.net (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-third-domain.com (an add-on domain name)
public_html/my-third-wife (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/my-third-wife.net (an add-on domain name)
public_html/rebeka (a folder part of my-default-domain.com)
public_html/rebeka.my-third-wife.net (a sub-domain of an add-on domain name)

Are you getting baffled? We definitely are!

Weak Point No.2: The same e-mail folder setup

The electronic mail folder configuration on the server is absolutely the same as that of the domains... Making the same error twice?!? The admin chums firmly reinforce their faith in God when dealing with the e-mail folders on the email server, hoping not to bungle things up too irretrievably.

Weak Point Number Three: An entire shortage of domain name management sections

Do we have to mention the thorough absence of a modern domain management tool - a location where you can: register/transfer/renew/park or administer domains, change domain names' Whois information, secure the Whois information, change/set up name servers (DNS) and Domain Name System resource records? cPanel does not incorporate such a "modern" GUI at all. That's a gigantic downside. An unpardonable one, we wish to point out...

Downside Number 4: Multiple user login places (min 2, max three)

How about the demand for an extra login to access the billing transaction, domain name and tech support management software solution? That's apart from the cPanel user account login credentials you've been already given by the cPanel Web Hosting provider. At times, on the basis of the invoice transaction system (especially made for cPanel solely) the cPanel Web Hosting vendor is availing of, the ardent customers can end up with 2 extra logins (1: the billing transaction/domain management GUI; 2: the ticket support user interface), ending up with an aggregate of 3 login locations (including cPanel).

Weakness Number Five: 120+ website hosting CP areas to pick up... briskly

cPanel presents to your attention 120+ menus inside the web hosting CP. It's a fabulous idea to learn each of them. And you'd better memorize them swiftly... That's inordinately impudent on cPanel's side.

With all due recognition, we have a rhetorical question for all cPanel-based Web Hosting companies:

As far as we are informed, it's not the year 2001, is it? Note that one too...
